24-hour Charity Bowlathon (Westlecot IBC, 24-25 September)

In an event like no other seen before it in bowls, 24 players will take to the Westlecot indoor carpet in Wiltshire to compete in a 12 vs 12 Ryder Cup style competition, as Team Purple and Team Red battle it out across 12 x two-hour sessions, to secure both the bragging rights and the trophy!

With a range of formats being played over the 12 sessions, this should be packed full of excitement, whilst also testing the resilience of all the players, who will all be playing for a minimum of 16 hours of the 24. The Bowlathon will commence at 12nn on Saturday (24 September) and run until 12nn on Sunday (25 September).

Formats include a wide range of singles, pairs, triples and fours sessions, including substitute events where a player can be substituted on or off at any point in the match. This includes a substitute Top Club, where the substitutes can jump into any discipline at any point. There will also be a two-hour session of four-bowl fours – a format which will certainly be interesting for spectators!

One rink will be livestreamed for the full duration of the event, and the schedule for this rink will be posted on the Westlecot Bowls Club Facebook page.

The live streaming will commence from 11.45am on Saturday (24 September) at either the Westlecot Bowls Club Facebook page or on YouTube.

The Bowlathon will be raising money for Caudwell Children, a national charity based in Staffordshire dedicated to improving the lives of disabled and autistic children. If you would like to sponsor the participants in this event, any donations can be made at www.justgiving.com/24hourbowlathoncaudwellchildren.
