Bowls England woman bowlers of the year announced

This evening saw the Bowls England woman bowlers of 2019 being crown at the women’s annual dinner and presentation of prizes.

The awards were all decided by the public with votes being collected online.

The Junior Woman Bowler of the Year, sponsored by Bowls International, went to Jasmine Wilson.

The Essex youngster had a great season, which included making her debut in the junior international team back in July.ย 

She skipped Hayley Kenny to win the National Junior Pairs title and retained the Essex Womenโ€™s County Singles crown, as well as reaching the National Triples Championships as skip of her Radwinter team. 

The brand new senior woman bowler of the year award 2019, sponsored by Bowls International, is Penny Strong.

Penny and partner Sheila Plaskitt reached the final of a star-strong Womenโ€™s National Pairs field and beat Emma Cooper and Natalie Chestney to lift the title after being 9-18 down. 

She was part of the winning Walker Cup squad when Lincolnshire enjoyed their third success in the event.ย 

The Woman Bowler of the Year, sponsored by Taylor Bowls, is Sophie Tolchard.

Sophie won the Two-Wood Singles title, completing her set of Womenโ€™s Championship titles. 

The win also meant she is one of just three women to have won the singles treble, the others being Amy Gowshall and Jamie-Lea Winch. Sophie was also part of the Kings team who lifted the Womenโ€™s Top Club trophy for the third time.

She won the Family Pairs at the beginning of the Championships with brother Sam.
