Daniel Pool retains World Under 25 Open Singles title

Daniel Pool retained the Imagine Cruising World Under 25 Indoor Singles title, beating Scotlandโ€™s Darren Weir โ€“ for the second year in succession – this time by an 8-6, 7-12, 2-0 margin, (writes Anne Dunwoodie).

Weir led 6-3 in the opening set, but Pool replied with a single and two doubles to take and early advantage in the best of two sets of eleven end final.

Weir though was sharply out of the blocks in the second set, taking a 6-0, four end lead, Poole responded briefly with a treble, but once again Weir rolled in three double to open up a 12-3 advantage with three ends to play, and although Pool countered with back to back doubles, it wasnโ€™t enough to save the set and the verdict went to Weir 12-7.

In the ensuing tie break scenario, all went Poolโ€™s way- winning the first two ends thereby retaining. the title.
