England win women’s junior international series

England defeated Scotland 78-58 to secure the BIWBC Junior International Series title for the ninth consecutive year at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa today (Sunday 22nd July).
The host country, who have won every BIWBC Junior International Series since 2010, showed strength in depth, particularly in the second half of the final group match.
Both sides recorded victories over Ireland and Wales on Saturday to set up a โ€˜winner-takes-allโ€™ encounter.
England held a narrow advantage for much of the early stages, but struggled to pull away due to some great bowling from Scotland. The advantage rose to almost 20 shots on occasions, but the Scottish youngsters continued to fight and reduce the deficit.
However, England stepped up a gear in the second half of the match and made it harder for the Scotland team to find a way through.
The England rink skipped by Laura Holden won seven consecutive ends to pull away from Scotlandโ€™s rink skipped by Rachael Sinclair, while Vicky Roomโ€™s four won their last seven ends 15-1 to secure an impressive 29-12 victory over Claire Walkerโ€™s Scotland quartet.
On Saturday, England defeated Ireland by 45 shots in the opening session (102-57), before following that up with a 113-54 win over Wales.
Scotland secured a 91-59 victory over Wales in the morning and beat Ireland 96-51 in the afternoon.
In the other game on Sunday, Wales defeated Ireland 88-77 despite only one rink win. Alis Butten, Alex Morgan, Rhiannon Weale and Gemma Amos lost just seven ends in their 29-11 victory which was pivotal in securing the overall match victory.
