“I really feel like I have just nicked the game, Nick completely outplayed me” says Skelton as he reaches first World Indoor Singles final
Simon Skelton has reached the final of the World Indoor Singles, beating Nick Brett on a tie break after the heartache of three semi finals.
A qualifier in the competition this year, Skelton will have enough points to be in the WBT top 16 ranking list after today’s match.
he said: “It is a great feeling, I really feel like I have just nicked the game as Nick completely outplayed me.
“But I never gave in and I am thrilled to be in the final for the first time. I think my family will be very proud.”
Brett said: “About halfway through the second set Simon. changed the jack length and I just lost the pace.
“Then the momentum was with him. I am disappointed to finish like that but fair play to Simon, he hung in there and did enough at the end.”
Skelton faces Stewart Anderson who defeated Les Gillett earlier today in straight sets.
Anderson, a former world indoor singles champion back in 2013, won the Scottish International Open in 2018 and the men’s pairs at Potters in 2016.
The match will be shown upon Sunday at 1pm
