Wales and England Take First Scalps

Opening day of the women’s senior international series

The womenโ€™s British Isles senior international series is underway at Stanley IBC, and first blood has gone to Wales and England after victories over Scotland and Ireland respectively.

Wales kicked off the series with a 130-114 victory over Scotland, with Carol Difford, Kelly Packwood and Wendy Price skipping their rinks to comfortable victories.

Diffordโ€™s rink defeated Caroline Brownโ€™s, 22-13, Priceโ€™s four defeated Claire Johnstonโ€™s quartet, 26-11 and Packwood won by an impressive 19-shot margin, 33-14 over Julie Forrestโ€™s rink.

England and Ireland are still currently playing, but the match result has already been sealed as England holds a commanding lead. At the time of writing, England has a 118-63 overall lead.

Sarah Seymourโ€™s four currently have a 22-13 lead over Sarah Jane Colemanโ€™s rink, Penny Strong is skipping her rink to a 22-8 lead over Marie McCord and Janice Gower and her rink are winning 20-5 over Jennifer Dowdsโ€™ rink.
