World Bowls role for Scotland’s Sue Beatt

The board of World Bowls has named Sue Beatt from Scotland, a highly experienced and motivated corporate executive and bowls administrator as its newest appointed director.

Sue is the recently retired co-founder and director of People Solutions (Scotland) Ltd, an HR and Training Consultancy, started in 2006, specialising in HR and employment law advice to numerous and varied small businesses throughout Scotland.

The Manchester-born Glasgow resident is in her eighth year as director of Bowls Scotland, of which six have been serving as the first-ever female chair of the organisation. There is also a three-year stint as District Secretary for the West of Scotland Womenโ€™s Bowling Association and club volunteer work as ladies treasurer of the St Vincent club in Glasgow on her CV. Her tenure on the Bowls Scotland board comes to its natural conclusion in November, while she will continue in a senior board role on the Scottish Sports Association.

A 20-year bowler at St Vincent, Sue has several club pairs titles to her credit and proudly recalls โ€˜reaching Northfieldโ€™ for the senior fours โ€“ although she chuckles โ€˜we didnโ€™t get very far thoughโ€™. Other sporting exploits include a schools blue ribbon for javelin, while she is a regular gym-goer and swimmer.

Sueโ€™s main experience (gained in over 30 years in the corporate world) has been running her own businesses which covered HR and Learning and Development. She is a qualified leadership mentor and executive coach and has a seasoned grasp of the governance required for running an effective organisation.

“The World Bowls board is delighted to welcome Sue as an Appointed Director,” president Darryl Clout said at the announcement.

“As our members would know we are fast approaching a period of change. The board is currently in the process of considering the recommendations contained in the major review of every area of our operations which was commissioned last year.

“We believe that Sueโ€™s experience, both on and off the green, will prove invaluable as we consider the best way to implement the changes which the review recommends.”
