2023 World Bowls Annual Council Meeting

The World Bowls Annual Council Meeting was held on Monday, September 4,ย at Club Robina on the Gold Coast during the 2023 World Bowls Championships.ย 

Over 40 member nations were represented and the meeting provided World Bowls an opportunity to provide a report on the progress made on the World Bowls Strategic Plan 2023 โ€“ 2025.

A number of topics were discussed at the meeting and forum held afterwards and this included a report from the World Bowls CEO on the progress around Olympic and Paralympic recognition, the future World Bowls events calendar including format and timing, a presentation on Para Bowls by Paul Brown โ€“ President of the International Bowls for the Disabled, an update on the creation of the World Bowls Series and World Bowls Super League and more broadly the major concerns currently facing many of the member nations.

There was a great deal of interaction and discussion amongst the delegates some of whom joined the meeting at varied times across the World on the Zoom platform.

President Darryl Clout was very pleased with the outcomes and attendance at the meeting and said, โ€œThe future of World Bowls is very promising with all nations wanting to move the sport of bowls forward and I was very encouraged by the support received on the future direction and leadership that World Bowls is providing.โ€
