Stewart Anderson had to work hard to get past England’s Mark Dawes in the first round of the World Bowls Tour world indoor singles championship singles at Potters Leisure Resort.

The Scottish ace drew the first set, 8-8, and then managed to get over the line with a 9-5, second set victory.

Yesterday, England international Nicky Brett just managed to beat English born Welsh international Robert Chisholm. Brett lost the first set, 5-7, but went on to win the second, 12-6. Brett won the tie-break 2-1.

Scotland’s Darren Burnett will face Ireland’s qualifier Clifford Craig in the next singles game at 2.00pm this afternoon.
