Somerset win men’s pairs and Ed Morris takes two wood crown

Somersetโ€™s Neil Williams and Sam Steel from Watchet BC won the 2018 Bowls England Menโ€™s National Pairs Championship, sponsored by Bowling Abroad.

They defeated Mark Jones and Mark Dunne from West End BC, Surrey in the final at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa.

Both pairs reached the final after victory on an extra end in their semi-final matches โ€“ both finishing 18-18 after 21 ends of play.

Williams and Steel defeated Ian Henwood and Mark Charlett from Headington BC, Oxfordshire, whilst Jones and Dunne recorded a victory over Dave Godwin and Steve Snell from Royal Wootton Bassett BC, Wiltshire.

Essexโ€™s Edward Morris won the 2018 Menโ€™s National Two-Wood Singles Championship, sponsored by the Friends of English Bowling.

The 30-year-old, from Essex County BC, defeated Hampshireโ€™s Peter Ward from Sports Centre Southampton BC on an extra end.

Morris trailed 10-13 with three ends to play and collected three singles to take it to an extra end.

In the semi-finals, Morris defeated Norfolkโ€™s Peter Wilkinson and Ward defeated Worcestershireโ€™s Steve Poyner.
