Golden celebrations for Di

From time to time, Pembroke Dock Bowling Club in West Wales is proud to recognise a special group of people who have been continuous members of the club for 50 years or more.

Diana (Di) Davies recently joined the elite group who have reached the half century.

As a thank you for her long-term service, Di was presented with a framed certificate by club chairman Richard Hissey to mark the historic milestone.

Di joined Pembroke Dock BC in 1973, a year after her late husband Les, and was a member of the first ladiesโ€™ team to represent the club, along with Jean Morgan, Gwyneth Hughes and Pam Godfrey.

In 1990, Di was elected West Wales Ladies Bowling Association president and in 2008 along with Les, was awarded life membership of the club. Since 2014, Di has held the post of club president and continues to represent the club in the West Wales Ladies League.

Off the green, over the years Di has helped to raise funds for the club by organising social events and the ever popular Sunday lunch.

Everyone at the club and throughout the bowling fraternity congratulates Di on reaching the โ€˜Big 50โ€™.
