HOT SHOTS CLUB WINNERS

We continue to receive bumper numbers of successful Hot Shots Club applicants.

Drum roll please. We have a gold badge winner. M Lloyd, of Hartlepool IBC who has picked up three hot shots this year โ€“ one in January and another two in the same match when he played with F Teasdale, M Steele and R Jones.

Father and son Richard and John Jennison also had a double hot shot in a game at Harrogate IBC, while Skegness IBCโ€™s Peter Hopkins, Peter Sharp and Bryn Foxon had a similar feat with their hot shots being scored in succession.

Meanwhile, Margaret Bailey, Denise Fagan, Andy Goddard and Ron Green scored a full house in their mixed rinks final at Harrogate IBCโ€™s finals weekend, while Dom Trombino, Carol Gaskins and Geoff Powell scored a nine at Oxford City and County Bowls Club in their last winter game of the indoor Thursday bowls league season, with Dom picking up his first-ever hot shot.

There were also maiden hot shots for Tracey Coulson, Janet Foord and John Coulson at Swale IBC, while for Kath Whiting, Sue Brunton and Jenny Cleary they scored their hot shot during a county game for Humberside against Derbyshire at North Cave IBC โ€“ it was Kath and Sueโ€™s first season for the county too.

Elsewhere, Shirley Murray, Lyn Fitzgerald, Brian Murray and Sean Fitzgerald celebrated a hot shot at Potters Resorts Five Lakes.

Explained Sean, a member of Guilsfield Community BC in Montgomery: โ€œLyn and I were paired by with Brian and Shirley from Roundwood BC, Taverham, to make up a team of four.

โ€œIncidentally, Brian and Shirley only started playing bowls in November!

โ€œWe won the hot shot on the second game of the event and went on to win all seven games to win the mid-week tournament.โ€

As the outdoor season opened, Deal Bowling and Social Clubโ€™s Eve Prokop, Paul Jarvis and John Hilson scored a maximum count of nine in their first game.

โ€œMy team seemed to adjust very well from playing indoors,โ€ said John who skipped the triple.

โ€œI think a nine hot shot is the first in the club.โ€

Anne Simmons, Jean McGovern, Keith Boys and Jeff Crate also had a count of eight in their first match at Meon Valley BC, while there was one for Brian Peart, Terry Callier, Julie Beamish and Charlie Faulkner in their game for Hinckley BC against Rugby The Grange BC.

A few days later, Nicky Whitson, Neil Ferguson and Malcolm Brader, of Barnwood BC, scored a nine against Dowty BC in their senior mid-week triples league.

โ€œIt was the first hot shot won by anyone in the team,โ€ says Malcolm.

In Cyprus, Sol Robertson and Sara Trotter scored a hot shot representing Bowls Cyprus in a five nations test series with Israel, Jersey, Isle of Man and Spain with Cyprus winning both the ladiesโ€™ trophy and the overall trophy. Israel won the menโ€™s event.

The Bowls International Hot Shots Club is as popular as ever and famous throughout the bowls playing world.

It was launched more than 20 years ago to reward players achieving a maximum score on one end of a competitive match and remains as popular as ever.

Certificates recognising the feat and signed by 15 times world champion Tony Allcock OBE take pride of place in the clubs and homes of bowlers all over the globe.

Different coloured bowls stickers are also available to highlight the achievement of becoming a member of the worldโ€™s largest and most exclusive bowls club.

Apart from having your names recognised in print and featured on our websitewww.bowlsinternational.com, why not send in a picture as well of the successful pair, triple or four, along with some interesting and relevant details about your claim to be included.

You can provide a few details on the entry form that is featured in our Hot Shots section of this website and email your photos to hotshots@bowlsinternational.com

Happy bowling and good luck!
