Breaking news: 2026 Commonwealth Games host update

Following the April meeting of the Commonwealth Games Federation Executive Board, it has been confirmed this morning that the CGF are considering multiple proposals to host the 2026 Games.

In a statement, Ann-Louise Morgan, director of sport for the Commonwealth Games Federation, said: “Significant progress has been made and we are excited by the early concepts, which aim to reset and reframe the Games. We are now working collaboratively with the relevant CGAs to undertake further detailed assessments, and aim to announce the 2026 Commonwealth Games host in May.

“We understand that it has been a challenging time for International Federations, national sporting organisations and, of course, athletes, and appreciate your support and patience over recent months. We will continue to provide regular updates as we work through the final stages of this process.”
