Wildcard Ian Bond secures a place in the QUARTER-FINAL after beating Australian Lee Schraner.

Bond beat Mark Royal in the first round and it certainly looks like he is on very top form!

Another upset saw Leicestershire’s Les Gillett beating World Number One Alex Marshall. A very surprising result indeed, especially as Gillett is not considered good enough to be part of the England team.

Paul Foster and defending champion Mervyn King have also booked passage to the second round.
