Leamington confirmed as 2022 Commonwealth bowls venue

Royal Leamington Spa Bowling Centre has been formally announced as the lawn bowls venue for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
The greens at Victoria Park are an iconic venue for the sport of lawn bowls across the globe, having hosted the Womenโ€™s World Championships twice, together with national and international events for more than 40 years.
Tony Allcock MBE, Bowls England Chief Executive, said: โ€œThe lawn bowls facilities at Victoria Park in Royal Leamington Spa are world-class and it will prove to be a magnificent venue for the Commonwealth Games. In addition, we expect there will be long-term benefits for both players and spectators who utilise the facilities on a regular basis as well as for our own National Championships and British Isles events.โ€
Noel Butler, Executive Member responsible for the Commonwealth Games and Portfolio Holder for Business at Warwick District Council said: โ€œWarwick District is delighted that its Lawn Bowls facility at Leamington Spa is one of the many exciting venues being offered as part of Birmingham 2022, providing a platform to showcase our district to a worldwide audience. We are looking forward to working together with Bowls England, the local tourism industry, business and sports organisations to make the most of this wonderful opportunity.โ€
