Sunday at Leamington: Four champions crowned

It was an action packed weekend as the Bowls England national championships continued at Leamington Spa.

SENIOR SINGLES

Wiltshire’s Alex Jacobs has retained the Bowls England Women’s National Senior Singles Competition, sponsored by VRS Daventry “Sports for Everyone”, today at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa.

The Box BC bowler secured the title following a 21-15 victory against Lancashire’s Eleanor Benvie from Bolton BC.

Jacobs had reached the final after victories against Hampshire’s Pamela Lambshead in the Semi-Final and Berkshire’s Pat Fowkes.

Benvie’s route to the Final included tight victories against Cambridgeshire’s Barbara Clutterbuck and Worcestershire’s Sue Davies.

SUTTON WINSOR TROPHY

Herefordshire’s Tom Holmes won the 2015 Sutton Winson Trophy after defeating Devon’s Scott Eveleigh in the final.

The youngster lost the opening set by a single shot in the final, however battled well to win the next three sets 6-2, 5-1, 4-3 for a 3-1 victory.

Holmes’ win included a Semi-Final victory against Suffolk’s Liam Harris, while Eveleigh defeated Kent’s Imogen Jenner on a shootout in the other Semi Final.

SUTTON WINSOR PLATE

Kent’s Anna Hall and Northamptonshire’s Kieran Rollings secured the 2015 Sutton Winson Plate following an Extra End victory against Hertfordshire’s Megan Mackinnon and Oxfordshire’s Orren Bennett.

Hall/Rollings won the first set 9-3, however Mackinnon and Bennett fought back well taking to second set 9-0, before Rollings drew the shot to take the victory on the Extra End.
