World’s best juniors do battle in Scotland
The International Indoor Bowls Council (IIBC) and World Bowls will be staging the Under 25 World Championships at East Kilbride Indoor Bowls Club, Scotland, December 4-8.
This year’s junior championships will feature men’s and women’s singles and a mixed pairs event with
a fantastic array of young players from many countries from around the world of bowls.
Seventeen women and men will be competing in this prestigious event from 18 nations providing a platform for these rising stars to shine and make their mark on the global stage competing against each other to win a World Championship title.
This year has been a busy year for a number of female players, many of whom have already competed in the 2023World Championships and Champion of Champions on the Gold Coast, Australia. Jordan Kos (Canada), Gloria Ha (Yat Ting) (Hong Kong China), women’s pairs silver medallist Rebecca Rixon (Malta), women’s bronze triples medallist Shauna O’Neill (Ireland), Aleena Binti Ahmad Nawawi (Maylasia) and Shae Wilson (Norfolk Island), are all expected to feature at the pointy end of this event.
Muhammad Idham Amin Bin Ramlan (Maylasia) is expected to be hard to beat, while last year’s champion Harry Goodwin from England is returning and hopes to go back-to-back. Bradley Buchan from Scotland aims to go one step further than last year’s semi-finals and it’s exciting to see an emerging and developing nation in Bowls Hungary entering two players to compete in this year’s event – Sarolta Schrank and Mate Dobos.
Ryan McElroy, a member of Ireland’s high performance squad, and Australia’s newest Right at Home Jackaroo squad member Nathan Black will make their debut at international level. Also in this year’s field is John-Pierre Fouche from Namibia following his participation at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
The IIBC and World Bowls are very thankful to four local guest female players who have agreed to play in the event to ensure all players are teamed up to play in the mixed pairs event.
World Bowls CEO, Neil Dalrymple is excited to see a strong field of players participating.

“This event provides many of our young and emerging bowlers the opportunity to experience an international competition and test themselves against some of the best young bowlers across the world.
