1000 DAYS TO GO: VICTORIA 2026

The countdown for the 23rd Commonwealth Games starts now.

The Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games, held between March 17-29, will be the first time in Commonwealth history that the multi-sport event will be held across a State; Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Gippsland and Shepparton, and whilst the Opening Ceremony will be held in Melbourne, the spectacular Closing Ceremony will be held at Kardinia Park in Geelong.

Lawn Bowls and Para Lawn Bowls will be held at Bendigo Bowls Club. The Bendigo Bowls Club was established in 1872 and is one of the oldest sporting clubs in Victoria. The club has been home to Birmingham 2022 gold medalist Aaron Wilson. Aaron first won Gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and could find himself returning to his home ground in 2026 to defend his two-time Gold medal streak.

Bendigo Bowling Club also hosted the Lawn Bowls for the 2004 Youth Commonwealth Games.

Australia has staged the Commonwealth Games on five occasions, with Victoria playing host to the Melbourne 2006 Games; widely considered one of the most successful editions of the event in history. The country has also staged the Games in Sydney in 1938, Perth in 1962, Brisbane in 1982 and most recently Gold Coast in 2018. Victoria has also hosted the Commonwealth Youth Games in Bendigo in 2004.
