Dennis Mowers go to Hollywood (well Orange County to be precise)

Long Beach BC Look to the Future

Long Beach Bowls Club in California has recently invested in a Dennis FT610 mower, complete with verticutting and brush cassette, cassette storage system and a Bray hand seed slotter.

The clubโ€™s decision was aided by Laguna Beach Bowls Club member Joe Regan, who had recently purchased a Sisis Rotorake MK5 and explained to the club how much the surfaced had improved since the investment.

The president of the Long Beach club, Peter Sinclair, along with club member Stephanie Johnson and Danny Ramirez from the local golf club, were swayed by Reganโ€™s appraisal:

โ€œWe were looking to upgrade our maintenance machineryโ€ explained Peter.

โ€œOur old mower was nearly 30 years old so we spoke with Joe and extensively searched the internet for the best mower on the market. We were particularly interested in purchasing a mower which could also accommodate turf maintenance cassettes, which would give us one machine to carry out a range of tasks. The Dennis FT610 looked to be such a good quality mower.โ€

This was the first piece of Dennis machinery to be sold to a bowls green in America, but the club felt that the swift and professional manner in which CS Trading, the USA distributors of Dennis Mowers, allayed any fears and worries, and furthermore the fact they know that any help needed is just a phone call away, made it an easy decision.

โ€œWhen we researched the Dennis FT610, the mower came out on top of the operatorsโ€™ evaluations for ease of use, robustness and manoeuvrability.

โ€œWe were immediately impressed with the ease of swapping cassettes, meaning the machine is versatile and can improve the quality of our bowls green.

โ€œRather than having to manoeuvre several heavy machines around, our greenkeeping needs could be met with just one machineโ€ Sinclair explained.

The club is highly proactive in attempting to recruit new members to the game, emphasised on its website homepage: โ€œWe view it as our mission to introduce as many people as possible to this great game.โ€

The club welcomes all bowlers and caters for those who want to purely play socially and those that wish to improve and play competitively.

The club also encourages โ€˜bowls partiesโ€™ to come and use its facilities, offering coaching, a large meeting room and picnic benches for a perfect workplace party or group at a reasonable cost, which also helps the club generate revenue.

Now, with the Dennis FT610, with a cutting width of 24โ€ and a range of 11 interchangeable cassettes, maintaining the green with one machine doing several jobs including de-thatching, verticutting and brushing, has never been easier.

As Sinclair concludes: โ€œItโ€™s a great product and we get great support from CS Trading. I would highly recommend the Dennis FT610 to anyone looking after a bowling green.โ€
