Scotland win MAP pairs

Jim Mielke and Robert Marshall win the Michael Ashton Phillips pairs tournament held in Orange County, California.

Mielke and Marshall overcome a spirited effort from the USA pair of Joe Regan and Michael Siddall in the final. With the last bowl of the game, Siddall had a slim chance of making a five to win the game by dragging the jack 8 inches. Siddall connected, although he dragged it a few inches too far.

Mielke and Marshall gained passage to the final after a win against another American pair, Steve Nelson and Charlie Herbert, in the semi-final.

This capped off a superb week for Marshall, who got to the final of the singles at the MAP before losing out to England’s John McGuinness.
