WORLD BOWLS AND BOWLS MALAYSIA SIGN MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU)

World Bowls is delighted to announce a partnership with Bowls Malaysia with the aim to expand bowls globally and promote the sport in Malaysia and other prospective countries in Asia.

World Bowls has recently announced a regional buddy system whereby World Bowls will formally align with some of our larger members to provide support for some of our smaller or prospective member Countries and assist in the areas of administration, marketing/communications (inclusive of social media/live streaming services and advice), coaching, umpiring and development/schoolsโ€™ programs.

This MOU outlines the preliminary understanding between Bowls Malaysia and World Bowls for a partnership aimed at expanding bowls globally and promoting the sport.

World Bowls CEO, Neil Dalrymple outlined that the โ€œWorld Bowls Strategic Plan was focussed on growing the sport and this MOU with Bowls Malaysia will be very helpful in supporting and assisting with the development of Bowls in Malaysia and throughout Asia, which is a region that has great potential.”

Commenting on the MOU, president of Bowls Malaysia and Bowls Asia, Datuk Awalan Abdul Aziz said: โ€œMalaysian Lawn Bowls Federation or Bowls Malaysia appreciates the trust given to us to undertake the role in facilitating the growth of the sport of lawn bowls in Asia. This is in line with our common vision of Bowls Asia and World Bowls member countries to be in the Asian Games and Olympics subsequently.”

A formal signing of the MOU agreement was held on Monday, March 4, 2024) at the City of Melbourne Bowls Club, in Flagstaff Gardens, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

The president of Bowls Malaysia and Bowls Asia, Datuk Awalan Abdul Aziz, and Malaysian Minister for Youth and Sport, Hannah Yeou, together with World Bowls CEO Neil Dalrymple attended.
