Devon win women’s fours

Devonโ€™s Sophie Tolchard, Kelly Atkinson, Lorraine Hackett and Natalie Chestney have won the Womenโ€™s National Fours Championship, sponsored by Dorset Bowls Resort, at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa.

The Kings BC four defeated Emily Ferguson, Sandy Hazell, Wendy King and Sian Honnor from U.K. Paper (Sittingbourne), Kent.

Of the eight players that featured in the final, Atkinson is the only one yet to gain international honours for England, with Tolchard, Chestney, Hazell and Honnor all having achieved Commonwealth Games honours for England in recent years.

Earlier in the semi-finals Devon defeated Anne Patten, Liz Munro, Janet Eames and Terrie Wombell from Dukeries BC, Nottinghamshire whilst Kent triumphed against Chloe Brett, Merisha McKernan, Sarah Newson and Catherine Popple from Parkway BC, Huntingdonshire.
