HARTLEPOOL WIN ENGLISH MIXED FOURS

Hartlepoolโ€™s Lauren Copeland and Paul Mosley, who were beaten in the semi-finals of the mixed pairs, made amends by winning the mixed fours crown in the company of Bev Lynch and Marc Squirrell.

Trailing for virtually all the final against the defending champions from Norfolk BC, Rebecca Field, Louise and Ian Catchpole and Wayne Willgress, Hartlepool came through dramatically on the rails to win 20-19, and deny their opponentโ€™s the distinction of being the first club to retain this title.

Hartlepool were 8-0 down at five ends; 11-6 in arrears at ten and still one down at 15, but they got their noses in front where it mattered at the business end of affairs.

In the semi-finals, Hartlepool overcame the challenge of the 2012 champions from Blackpool Newton Hall, Emma Seed, Sue Kearsley, Jonathan Goodall and Mark Dawes, on this occasion letting slip an 14-8 lead before powering home over the last three ends, scoring seven shots to one, to win 21-15.

In the other semi-final, Norfolkโ€™s Rebecca Field had the satisfaction of a win over Ipswichโ€™s Katherine Rednall, who defeated her recently in the final of the womenโ€™s world matchplay event at Potters Resort.

The Norfolk rink was comfortable 24-10 winners in the end over Katherine, who was accompanied by her dad, John, with Anna and John Chalk.
