Sue Allen wins senior singles

Yorkshire’s Sue Allen has won the Bowls England Women’s National Seniors Singles Competition, sponsored by ‘Bowling Abroad Holidays’.
Allen defeated Suffolk’s Andrea Dickinson in the final at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa following a thrilling comeback. Trailing 14-7 after 11 ends, Allen scored on six successive ends to complete a 21-14 victory.
Earlier in the first semi-final Allen stormed into a 14-5 lead after just nine ends against Kent’s Jane Cogle, then Cogle won seven consecutive ends to take the lead 17-14. The pair then exchanged shots before Allen scored a match-winning double with the scores tied at 19-all.
In the second semi-final Dickinson was always in front, eventually pulling through against Nottinghamshire’s Terrie Wombell 21-16.
