Surrey defeat Northants to win BE women’s triples

Surrey’s Sharmishta Patel, Maureen Vandrau and Margaret Smith have won the Bowls England Women’s National Triples Championship, sponsored by St. James’s Place Wealth Management.

The trio from Sutton BC, who were beaten finalists in 2016, defeated Margaret Watts, Katie Smith and Rebecca Wigfield from Desborough Town BC, Northamptonshire, in the final this afternoon at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa to claim the crown.

In a low-scoring final, a count of four on the 14th end for Sutton proved crucial as they turned a 9-8 deficit into a 16-10 victory.

In the first semi-final Surrey defeated Helen Jones, Emma Cooper and Lorraine Kuhler from Sussex whilst Northamptonshire beat Sue Alexander, Cheryl Salisbury and Ellen Falkner from Cambridgeshire.
