Kingdon wins record seventh Tenby Gold Cup

Former Welsh and British Isles singles champion David Kingdon was crowned Tenby Bowling Clubโ€™s gold cup winner for a record-breaking seventh time today.
Twenty-one years after he first lifted one of the most sought-after titles in Welsh bowls, the Kidwelly Town Bowling Club member chalked up success beating Cheltenhamโ€™s Matt Cuthbert 21-4 in the final which lasted just 13 ends.
Defending gold cup champion John Roberts, of the host club, meanwhile had to settle for silver this year.
He won the Percy Howells Silver Bowl for a second time beating Mark Driscoll, also of Kidwelly Town BC, 21-15.
The third trophy up for grabs, the consolation Five Arches Bowl, for players knocked out of both the gold and silver competitions in the early rounds, heads to Presteigne BC after Marcus Smith returned a 21-13 winning scorecard over Tenbyโ€™s Ashley Hooper to win the competition for the first time.
