Welsh men named for World Bowls 2020

The Welsh Bowling Association are one of the first to select their five-man squad for World Bowls in the Gold Coast, Australia, May 26-June 7, 2020.

Daniel Salmon (Penylan BC), Jonathan Tomlinson (RTB Ebbw Vale BC), Ross Owen (Harlequins BC) and Steve Harris (RTB Ebbw Vale BC), who played in both the 2018 Commonwealth Games at the same venue and the Atlantic Championships held earlier this year in Cardiff, are joined by Chris Klefenz (Beaufort BC) who will be making his debut in a major event.

Team manager David Harding said: โ€œIโ€™m really pleased with our World Bowls squad; most of them have had a positive experience competing on greens in the southern hemisphere in the Commonwealth Games where as a team we achieved an impressive third place, delivering a gold medal, and running close to a bronze.

โ€œThe selectors had a really difficult job, with a number of players who made a strong case and were unlucky this time.

โ€œWe have already started our preparations and we will give ourselves every chance of success next year.โ€
