The Maltese Olympic Committee has announced its lawn bowls team for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Malta will be competing in four disciplines at the Games – the men’s triples, men’s four’s, women’s pairs and women’s fours.

Joining the contingent traveling to Birmingham will be the 2018 Commonwealth Games medalist family โ€“ Connie, Rebecca, and Rose Rixon, who will once again be playing in the women’s fours, who will be joined by newcomer Irene Attard.

The quartet promise to be a strong team on the greens at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa and will be seeking a return to the podium.

Rixon siblings Connie and Rebecca will also compete in the women’s pairs.

The menโ€™s fours team will be headed by the most experienced player Shaun Parnis. This will be Parnisโ€™ fourth Games appearance.

He will be joined by Atlantic Championships bronze medalist Mark Malogorski, and newcomers Troy Lorimer and Peter Ellul.

โ€œThe selection for the lawn bowls contingent brings together a team that has provided excellent results for Malta in the past. Their combined experience will definitely be an asset to Maltaโ€™s performance in Birmingham,โ€ remarked Julian Pace Bonello, president, Maltese Olympic Committee.
