England stalwart John Rednall announces international retirement

Bowls Englandโ€™s most-capped international, John Rednall, has announced his decision to retire from international duty.

โ€œThis morning, after a great deal of thinking, I emailed Bowls England stating my decision to retire from international bowls,” he said.

โ€œI am proud to have represented England, outdoors for thirty-one years and amassed 101 caps, breaking the record and I still feel I am at my peak.

โ€œI’d like to thank all those I’ve played with and against, all those friends in other countries, and I’m thankful to the English Bowling Association and Bowls England selectors for placing so much faith in me for so long.

โ€œWith the axing of the six rink international series, my greatest love in the sport, now is the right time to retire.

โ€œWhen my long-term skip, David Ward tragically died, I took his place as the last England player in the line on the march on. That place will go to someone else now.

โ€œI had great times in a career that started with partnering David Bryant, God bless him. Many happy memories.โ€
