Falkner and Paxton lift World Indoor Championships mixed pairs title

Ellen Falkner and Rob Paxton needed a tie break to claim the mixed pairs title at Potters after losing 1-15 in the first set.

England’s Nick Brett and New Zealand’s Helen Carman stormed in to an early lead with Brett pulling out some superb bowls, but the tables were turned in the second set, which was won by Falkner and Paxton, 10-3.

With Falkner settling in to a rhythm and Paxton adding, it was Brett who was forced to play weight.

The duo carried the momentum from the second set into the tie break, which they won 2-0.
