Foster Blows Away his Opponent

The ‘Troon Tornado’ took the wind out of Welshman Stephen Harris’ sails in the opening round of the Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines world singles championship.

The World Bowls pairs champion and current Scottish Open title holder made light work of Harris, winning the first set in half an hour, 11-2.

Foster opened the second set with a score of three, but Harris, undeterred, responded with a double. Threes on the fifth and sixth end for Foster took the game away from Harris, having to come back from a 10-4 deficit. The set finished 11-5.

It has been a fantastic day for Scotland, making up for Darren Burnett’s shock exit yesterday, as Colin Walker knocked out world number one Greg Harlow, Alloa’s Steven Allen despatched seeded player Simon Skelton and Alex Marshall got past Scott Edwards in a high quality game.
