Katherine Rednall defends Just Ladies World Matchplay title

The final of the Just Ladies World Matchplay between defending champion Katherine Rednall and former winner Rebecca Field was one sided as Rednall hit her stride early and was in punishing form.
Field had to get herself out of trouble on the very first end, playing weight to ditch the jack and collect a single.
After that though Rednall drew with ease, and it was not until the eighth end that Field scored again.
With a 13-3 win and with the last two ends not needing to be played, Katherine started the second set in just the same mood.
A four on fifth end from Rebecca Field gave a glimmer of hope, but she could not back it up and Katherine ran out the winner of the second set 13,6.
Rednall said: “I am so pleased to defend my title, I was really pleased with how I started and I managed to carry it on.
“The first title will always be the most special but every one is great.”
Rebecca Field said: “I genuinely think that she was pretty much unbeatable.
“I played a good saving bowl on the first but then it was pretty much like sit back and watch Katherine draw back touchers. She is not shakeable and I didn’t really know what length to play.
“I don’t think I panicked, I did get annoyed with myself a couple of times but she was just too good for me with her drawing today.”
