VACANCY | World Bowls seeks new Communications and Marketing Coordinator

World Bowls is the recognised International Federation for the Sport of Bowls. Its mission is to encourage, promote, develop and ensure the growth of our sport throughout the world and to assist Member Organisations to develop bowls as a sport in their country.

This new role will report to the newly appointed World Bowls CEO and also the Bowls Australia Communications and Marketing Manager. The key priority is to improve the standard of Communications and Marketing delivered by World Bowls for the sport globally.

The key functions for the role are:

  1. To improve the media exposure of World Bowls, its Member Organisations and the sport of bowls globally.
  2. To actively market and promote the World Bowls brand and organisation primarily with key stakeholders.
  3. To advance the World Bowls brand in the digital landscape including new media and broadcast opportunities.

Specifically, the position will be responsible for:

  • Developing and curating content for people/initiatives/events from World Bowls Member Organisations and international markets to promote the sport of bowls globally through digital media and communication channels.
  • Developing the digital strategy and coordinating Digital content and design.
  • Overseeing the coordination of website content and design for World Bowls Website.
  • Primary point for Media liaison and driving traditional media content.
  • Developing and delivering the World Bowls Marketing Plan.
  • Managing the maintenance of the media library.
  • Events coverage for World Bowls Events.
  • Broadcasting and live-streaming production and liaison.
  • Managing the World Bowls Branding.

To be considered for this role you must meet the following criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications in journalism, communications, marketing or similar.
  • Advanced writing and project management skills.
  • A clear understanding and familiarity with the digital media landscape.
  • High degree of computer literacy; video production and editing skills will be highly regarded.
  • A proactive approach, strong team focus and customer service ethic.
  • Core experience in journalism/communications/media relations with some marketing experience.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Deadline driven with ability to work effectively under deadline pressure.
  • Passion and preparedness to roll up your sleeves and make things happen.
  • Outstanding communication skills โ€“ both verbal and written.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Integrity – maintains legal, social and organisational standards and values and honours commitments.
  • An ability to “sell a story”.
  • Prepared to travel, work weekends and non-traditional hours as required.
  • A network across media will be well regarded.

The role will be based in World Bowls Melbourne office currently located in Thornbury.

This is a part-time role (3 days per week) with an initial contract of two years.
