HOT SHOTS CLUB | January 2023

Weโ€™ve some cracking hot shot stories to share with you this month.

Andy Hughes, Cameron Tracy and Jayne Wood scored two hot shots in their Maidstone and District league game, while Steve Killington, Jim Spurgeon, John Fletcher and John Kendall, of Essex County BC, scored their full house on end 13!

Len Barber, Stuart Sowden, Stephen Smith and Duncan Simmons, of Leicester IBC, had been seven down in the head until their skip Duncan took the jack back resulting in their claim for a hot shot.

Calne BC members Barry Wicks (chairman) and Pal Mackie (club captain) scored an eight at North Wilts BC, while Sarah Ames, Sylvia Russell, Bernice Thompson and Neville Ring, of Plymouth Life Centre IBC, have been playing together for about eight or nine years with varying degrees of success. However, this year, they are pushing hard for a top spot in their evening league second division and their hot shot was very much enjoyed by the team.

Glen Elliott, Roger Wooland, Mike MacAlpine and Terry Hurley-Smith picked up a hot shot at Honiton. Mike and Glen were both playing with new woods, Roger was playing with the aid of a crutch having recently had an ankle replacement operation and Glen was also playing with his โ€˜wrongโ€™ arm as he was suffering with tennis elbow in his bowling arm.

There was unexpected hot shot success too for Kevin Brady and Shelley Greenwood at La Posada BC in Spain. The duo only made a pairs team to help the club out when other players were unavailable. Kevin, who is in his 80s had been to the UK so had not played for three weeks, and Shelley had not played for 12 months after suffering an injury to her arm.

The Bowls International Hot Shots Club is famous throughout the bowls playing world.

It was launched more than 20 years ago to reward players achieving a maximum score on one end of a competitive match and remains as popular as ever.

Certificates recognising the feat and signed by 15 times world champion Tony Allcock OBE take pride of place in the clubs and homes of bowlers all over the globe.

Different coloured bowls stickers are also available to highlight the achievement of becoming a member of the worldโ€™s largest and most exclusive bowls club.

Apart from having your names recognised in print and featured on our website, why not send in a picture as well of the successful pair, triple or four, along with some interesting and relevant details about your claim.

You can provide a few details on the entry form and email your photos to hotshots@bowlsinternational.com

Happy bowling and good luck!
