England retain U18 title

England have retained the British Isles under 18 mixed indoor series played at Stanley IBC.

In fact, the two England teams finished first and second for the second time in three years.

England 2 headed the eight-team championship decided over all four disciplines – singles, pairs, triples and fours.

The successful line-up was B.J. Byles (Desborough, Maidenhead), Katherine Rednall (Ipswich), Chelsea Tomlin (Boston), Thomas Segolo (County Arts) and Travis Mellor (Isle of Wight).

The England 1 team was Edward Elmore (City of Ely), Hayley MacDonald (York), Matthew Ray (Hartlepool), Alex Walton (St Neots) and Connor Cinato (Desborough, Northants).

B.J. Byles won the singles, beating Ryan Videgrain (Channel Islands) 11-4, 13-5; Wales’ Joe Mower and Jordan Davies took the pairs; Byles, Tomlin and Segolo won the triples after an all-England final against Elmore, Ray and Cinato and the fours produced a second all-England decider with Macdonald, Ray, Walton and Cinato from England 1 beating Rednall, Tomlin, Segolo and Mellor.
